Rajnikant is one of the most renowned, celebrated and adored actors of India. He truly has lived a life of a Super Star. His life, like his movies is dramatic, emotional and sensational. Born in Karnataka, India to Ramojirao Gaekwad and Jijabai. Rajni lost his mother when he was just 5 years old leaving behind 3 brothers including Rajni. Rajni started working as a bus conductor for the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation in Bangalore before he joined the Madras Film Institute. In 1975, he made his debut in the Kannada film Katha Sangama. This movie got him recognition and the dice rolled and has not stopped since then.
Rajnikanth married Latha on February 26, 1981 at Tirupathi and they had two children, Aishwarya and Soundarya. Rajni is a very homely man with a humble head on his shoulders. He is one of the few south Indian heroes who successfully crossed over to Bollywood. Andha Kanoon, Giraftaar, Chaalbaaz, Gangwa and more speak for his success in Bollywood. Not many know this, but his popularity is unmatched as his movie Muthu, released in 1990 was the first ever Indian movie to be dubbed in Japanese.
Rajni has received many awards from several organisations, like the Tamil Nadu State Government Award, Cinema Express, Filmfans Association, Filmfare and so on, for his onscreen performances and off-screen contributions in writing and producing. He has also received other honours such as the Raj Kapoor Award (2007) from the Government of Maharastra, Kalaichelvam Award (1995) from the Nadigar Sangam, MGR Award (1989) and Kalaimamani Award (1984) from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
But the ultimate recognition came his way when he received India's third highest honour, the Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to Indian cinema, in 2001. He has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and even an English film. Rajni's prowess has made him into a Demi-God in South. He was reportedly paid Rs. 300 million for his blockbuster Sivaji: The Boss, which makes him one of the most highly paid actors of his generation. Rajni is not less than a worldly personality in South India. Rajnikanth continues to break box office records, entertaining people of the world and doing every thing in his own unique style.
